About IP Bans
If you have tried and failed to access DirectAdmin, our websites, or your websites, you may be IP banned. One common error page is the “Request Timed Out” page. IP bans are defined as:
IP address blocking or IP banning is a configuration of a network service that blocks requests from hosts with certain IP addresses. IP address blocking is commonly used to protect against brute force attacks and to prevent access by a disruptive address.
This definition is perfectly valid for IP bans on DirectAdmin.
When you try to log into DirectAdmin many times and fail every time, the system marks your IP as spam and bans it from accessing the control panel, our IPs, and any/all linked domains.
IP bans could also happen if you spam requests on websites (attacks include DoS, DDoS), although this has not ever happened to our users.
While you are IP banned, your services wiil not be suspended from the public. Others can still access your websites, the only one that would experience the ban would be the one banned. If your services are suspended from the public, your account may be suspended. Contact support in this case.
Unban An IP
IP unbanning is simple to do. On average, it only takes a few minutes to complete the entire process.
Obtain IP Address
Find your IP address using any online service. This could be done by finding your IPv4 address in your device settings, or by searching ‘my IP’ on the web. Your public IP should be in 123.123.123.123 format, where 123 can be any 3 digit number from 000 to 999. If you are find an IP address that does not look like this, it may be an IPv6 address. When contacting support, please inform us of your IPv4 address, not IPv6.
Contact Support
You may contact support any way listed here. Provide us your IPv4 address. If coming from Discord, your account ID will be used to match your account to make sure you are a DirectAdmin user. Similar with email and Telegram, your emails will be matched to your account before the unban. Please use the same email that you used to register to unban your IP.
